How to Sand a Wooden Floor - Page 4Make sure you get to the edges. The Bona Belt sander does not reach all the way to the wall. This is where you use the edge sander. Fit sandpaper of the same grit used on the Bona Belt sander. Sand in small circular movements, from left to right, clockwise. Don't press down on the machine, let it work under its own weight. Empty the dust bags from the drum and edge sanders before you begin sanding with grit 80 paper. The sawdust that then winds up in the bags can come in handy of you need to fill in cracks or gaps in the floors later. More about this later. Now that you are done, you can continue sanding the floors. Vacuum the floors carefully so that they are completely clean before continuing. |
Check to ensure that there is no damage to the wood that needs to be repaired. If there is, you can repair it with wood putty. Use the edge sander along the walls. |
